No more bloody dingos. No more log cabin, either. As it turns out, that nice, fully contained cabin I was in a few nights back is not the cheapest room here at the Colonial Log Cabins YHA. <\/span>Now<\/span> I\u2019m in the cheap room, Room 17 \u2026 in the ghetto. <\/span>All<\/span> the way in the back, probably 12-15 beds, co-ed. No one locks the door, either. Now mind you, this is where Stephanie from Madison, WI had her stuff rummaged through. (I met Stephanie waiting for the Fraser bus. She works for a Rivers Unlimited type group and was here for 3 weeks, touring and giving a talk in Sydney about dam removal). So as you can guess, the <\/span>Pac-Safe<\/span><\/a> is in full operation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Did laundry today, and did it ever need it. Ran out of everything but shorts. Mailed some postcards home, enjoyed my brekky here at the cafe with the Macarena playing in the background. Interesting. Had some more Australian coffee, much like an espresso. Made one cup at a time, very rich. Either that, or it\u2019s instant. I don\u2019t get it. Crapped my brains out for the third time (was camping, remember?). Oh, the rest of the trip is in the bag. Tomorrow I leave for <\/span>Rockhampton<\/span><\/a>, stay for 2 nights (train is booked). Then on to <\/span>Cairns<\/span><\/a>. I\u2019ll be up north for 7 days, then I have a <\/span>cheap<\/span> flight to Sydney via Brisbane. Only $175. Plus, the fli \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

I was interrupted. A welcomed interruption, however. Another Olympic trip, another Dutch girl! This time I didn\u2019t screw it up, though. Didn\u2019t get their names, but she, the guy with her, and their group are on a two month holiday. They now have me <\/span>very<\/span> excited about the whole whale watching trip. Nice folks, those Dutch. Too bad I can\u2019t tell Marc about another Dutch girl (still no email from him. Unbelievable).<\/span><\/p>\n

Anyhow, where was I? Oh, yes. The flight from Cairns. It doesn\u2019t leave until 4 PM, so I have most of the day to do whatever in Cairns. So the rest of the trip is set. I\u2019ll decide on the train just what I\u2019ll do in Rocky for a day and a half. Probably have a beer or two<\/p>\n

Had a beer or four last night. From the looks of my notes, I\u2019d say four or more. I believe I made up for the beer drought on Fraser last night. I also believe I thought I was <\/span>Bill Bryson<\/span><\/a> as well.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the vast range of scribblings, including the music group Marcy\u2019s Playground, comments on English teeth, and Mojo, I have managed to fish out an interesting one. Although the actual note is somewhat skewed and over-exaggerated, I think I can clean it up a bit. Put simply, bushwalking on Fraser was a good thing. Since the return, I feel more comfortable, refreshed, and a bit more outgoing. A bit less introverted. I don\u2019t know. Take it for what it\u2019s worth.<\/p>\n
