I have just now realized my first casualty of the trip: my pack towel. It was such a nice thing. I left it on the clothes line in Rockhampton. Stupid mistake. So I guess I\u2019ll be buying a towel in Cairns. Oh, well.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re finishing our 20 minute layover here in Townsville. Most of the guys from last night got off around 4 AM. Paula just now left, along with the Rugrats and the old man. I did my Boy Scout duty and bought his breakfast and carried his bags. And they say Americans are cocky. Well, we are.<\/p>\n

Sleeping in these seats SUCKED last night. I didn\u2019t have a pillow or anything close, and I could only sleep for about 90 minutes before a) my leg fell asleep, b) my neck cramped up, or c) both. I got up around 6:00, had some coffee, did some Birding. The kids got all interested in it, so they turned out to be OK. Paula was even calling the birds out! Turns out her parents are Birders. Oh, rapture!<\/p>\n

So now what? I\u2019ve got at least 7 \u00bd hours (we\u2019re behind schedule) and no one to talk with. Oh, the toilets dump on the tracks. Nice. So I guess I go back to reading Hesse or my genetics. Yipee. Are they serving beer yet?<\/p>\n
