That\u2019s Daylight Savings Time. \u00a0Lost an hour last night. \u00a0And \u201cByron Bay\u201d reads Oxford, OH and beach – Miami. \u00a0Anyhow, I was up late, none of the coffee shops are open early, so let\u2019s just get this started.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Where to begin? \u00a0I sit now on the beach\u2026.. in a jacket and pants. \u00a0Still cold. \u00a0Went through a lot to get here. \u00a0The train ride was uneventful and on time. \u00a0I spent almost the entire time watching New South Wales go by the window. \u00a0And the birds. \u00a0Saw lots of new birds. \u00a0Other sites: \u00a0the <\/span>Great Dividing Range<\/span><\/a> (reminds me of Blue Ridge Mtns), banana plantations in <\/span>Coffs Harbour<\/span><\/a>, brush fires (well, smoldering), not one Asian on the train, cemeteries with large concrete slabs (?), and plenty of weirdos in my car. \u00a0One woman was wearing a pink Barbie hat, leopard print coat, and doing some sort of punching-arm exercises. \u00a0Another guy thought he was <\/span>Ricky Martin<\/span><\/a> and decided to share his voice and \u201cmoves\u201d with the rest of us every now and again, and I had to listen to this stupid mystic-healer type most the way.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Oooh. \u00a0My first male speedo sighting.<\/p>\n

Well, the train rolled in at 8:00. \u00a0I helped some girl get her bag to the street, then walked with mine to the <\/span>Aquarius Backpackers<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0In a room with men and women, including Simon from the UK. \u00a0Got a shower, had a couple beers at the on-site bar, got bored and went to eat. \u00a0Had a crepe. \u00a0I don\u2019t know. \u00a0I\u2019m in hippie-ville. \u00a0Afterwards I dropped into Colomangas. \u00a0It\u2019s a club right out of Oxford or another college town and into Byron.<\/span><\/p>\n
