End of the line, more or less. Cape Tribulation isn’t quite as close as I thought: 23 km or so. It’s a $5 bus to get there, and only for an hour or two. But hell, I’m in the Daintree Rainforest!
Daintree
I’m waiting on the frickin’ lunch counter to open so I can eat & go do something. Therer’s a free shuttle to the beach, but it’s only 3.5 km from here. Theres also a 3 km hiking trail next to this place and a “good view” of the sunset. The drive up on the Coral Coach was eventful. Our bus’s clutch was going out as soon as we left Cairns. We stopped briefly in Port Douglas & I snuck into the resort for some food. We switched buses further up the road and made our way to the Daintree River. We crossed on a ferry, drove up the ridge, then stopped off at an overlook. Very nice.
Scrub Fowl
We got here. I checked in, & now I’m finally eating. I may not be able to do the Snapper Island trip like I wanted. I guess fruit tasting is out, since I’m not in Cape Tribulation. But hey, would a scrub-fowl walk up to me in Cape Trib as one just did here?
I think I’m going to go do something.
