Corked!

Corked!

No need to waste batteries on my “head torch” when I can write by moonlight on the beach. The only drawback is the lousy sand fleas. Oh, and when a cloud passes over as It did just now. I didn’t do a damn thing today. I just lazed around on the beach, in a hammock, wherever. Climbed up some black rock to see the sunset, had some fine chicken stir fry for dinner. Simmon’s a pretty good cook. Afterwards we played “Corked”. It’s a card game very similar to gin rummy, only after you score 60 pts you get a blackened cork smeared over your face. I was the first to cork someone (Simon) & the last to be corked (by Simon). I’m still suspicious. Now I’m preparing for bed in a hammock on the beach. The Bahamas Down Under.

Robert, Kim & Simon

I tell you, Simon’s a nice guy. He’s got one helluva job at 20 years too. This is it, three times a week. He lived in Darwin for 5 years, then his family moved to Cairns. Been up there ever since. Worked on a trawler, but didn’t like it. He quit because of his pangs of conscience. Glad to hear it. he’s also spent time on a cruise ship. I’m pretty impressed. He has a good knowledge of the wildlife, especially the fish. He has above average camp etiquette as well. Just too bad I had to cork him.

Time for my siesta.
