For one brief yet glorious moment, as I woke from a nap on my plane from LA, I thought I was still in Oz.
Quite the contrary. I was on a plane that took an extra 2 hours to get to Chicago. Lousy weather. And to make matters worse, the plane I’m sitting on is going to Louisville. My Cincinnati flight was cancelled; I was lucky to get this one. I had to stand in line for over an hour, next to the completely intoxicated girl who wouldn’t shut up. Now I have a flight to Louisville, three hours to drive home, I didn’t finish Hesse. [Editor: unknown meaning of Hesse] I’ll probably miss Dad, and my bag is going to Cincinnati tomorrow morning. If they serve an Aussie Burger on this flight, I’m going to ass-punch someone.

Hesse is Hermann Hesse, author of “Narcissus and Goldman”. A novel of two medieval men, one content with his religion and monastic life, the other in fervent search of more worldly salvation. This conflict between flesh and spirit between emotional and contemplative man, was a life study for Hesse.
Kevin seemed to be caught up in this novel. He marked many sections that were of interest to him.
