Railroad Friendly Bar
6:50pm
One VB for the road.
I am so damn tired & stiff. That surfing thing kicked my ass! Loads of fun, though. I never really got upright. I was doing really well at the start. It was a cinch catching the waves. but I think that wore me out. When we finally tried standing, I was sitting too forward on the board. or I was “railing”. (leaning the board on its rail to turn) , or I just couldn’t get my ass through the surf to where the waves were breaking. I did manage to fall in with some interesting company: two Britons, Nicki & Chad, and two Americans, Ashley & Kate. The latter is from Chillicothe, OH. Ashley is from DC. Both are studying in Sydney & came up for the weekend. All in all, a good time. The guys running the class were real nice, the beach was beautiful (we were just south of the cape), but the weather sucked. It was windy and overcast. However, the wind was off the shore which made the waves stand higher. Not that it made much difference to us; we were surfing the white wash.
Did some shopping today. Saw a real nice 35 L (?) pack by Billabong for A$120. There was another that only had one strap crossing the chest. It was smaller & a bit less. I wanted the larger, but I really couldn’t justify it. Would have made a really cool school pack, though.
Checked out the Kebabs at the Kebab Hut. They’re actually wraps. Good Wraps, I might add. And that’s about it for the day. Now I’m just waiting for the train to Murwillumbah.
